Abstract

EXPORT
  • The export value through loading ports in Sumatera Utara region in February 2019 decreased compared to January 2019, namely from US$682.28 million to US$575.62 million or a decrease of 15.63 percent. Likewise, compared to February 2018, Sumatera Utara's exports decreased by 20.57 percent.
  • ·       The increase in the export value of Sumatera Utara in February 2019 compared to January 2019 occurred in the fruit group (HS 08) of US$951 thousand (7.22%) while the largest decrease occurred in animal / vegetable oil and fat (HS 15) categories of US$64.64 million (-23.59%), followed by various chemical products (HS 38) of US$13.84 million (-16.68%).
  • ·       Exports to the United States in February 2019 were the largest, namely US$68.46 million, followed by China US$64.67 million, and India US$45.01 million, with the contribution of the three reaching 30.95 percent.
  • ·       According to the group of export destination countries in February 2019, exports to the Asian region (outside ASEAN) were the largest with a value of US$199.06 million (34.58 percent).

IMPORT
  • The import value through North Sumatra in February 2019 on the basis of CIF (cost, insurance & freight) amounted to US $ 296.90 million, a decrease of 35.13 percent compared to January 2019 which reached US $ 457.69 million. When compared with the same month in the previous year, the value of imports decreased by 22.91 percent.
  • Import value in February 2019 compared to January 2019, capital goods fell by 4.87 percent, raw / auxiliary materials fell by 38.74 percent and consumer goods fell by 31.17 percent.
  • In February 2019, the class of goods experiencing the largest increase in import value was mineral fuel (HS 27) of US $ 1.24 million (3.16%). While the categories of goods which experienced the largest decline in import value were inorganic chemicals (HS 28) of US $ 40.03 million (-86.22%) followed by machinery / mechanical aircraft (HS 84) of US $ 21.91 million (-37 , 24%) and machinery / electrical equipment (HS 85) of US $ 17.97 (-45.97%).
  • The import value in February 2019 from China was the largest, namely US $ 100.74 million with its role reaching 33.93 percent of North Sumatra's total imports, followed by Malaysia at US $ 33.38 million (11.24%), and Singapore at US $ 25 , 81 million (8.69%).
