Abstract

• The Sumatera Utara Consumer Tendency Index (ITK) in the third quarter of 2019 was 98.56, meaning that the economic conditions of consumers in the third quarter of 2019 were no better (pessimistic) compared to the second quarter of 2019. The pessimism of the economic condition of consumers was mainly due to the low volume of consumption community (index value 97.92).

• Compared to ITK in the second quarter of 2019 which is 124.58, it means that the level of consumer optimism in the third quarter of 2019 is lower than in the second quarter of 2019.

• Compared to other provinces in Sumatra, the Sumatera Utara Quarter III-2019 index value is ranked ninth.

• ITK Sumatera Utara in the fourth quarter of 2019 is estimated to be 104.38, meaning that the economic condition of consumers in the fourth quarter of 2019 is expected to be better than the third quarter of 2019. The level of consumer optimism is driven by future earnings with an index value of 110.61.
